About the Winemaker
Jim Henderson has a passion for making premium wines, which prompted him to found Lowden Hills Winery. He is a self-taught hands on winemaker who started with a class at UC Davis and continues to take courses of interest at Walla Walla Institute for Enology and Viticulture.
Jim and his wife Sonja are owners of Lowden Hills Winery and Win Chester Vineyards. Working long hours in the vineyards puts him in touch with the very essence of good wine, the grapes. Jim is actively involved in all aspects of the wine making process, from planting, working in the vineyards, harvest, crush, to the final stages leading up to an elegant and finely-structured Bordeaux style wine from Lowden Hills Winery.
Jim's attention to time honored viticulture practices, combined with the unique Walla Walla terroir (the natural environment of the vine - the soil, climate and topography of the vineyard), enable Lowden Hills Winery to produce wines of distinction. |
