Win Chester Vineyards is located in
the heart of the Walla Walla Wine Country. The vineyard
is just outside of the small town of Lowden, up in the
hills about a mile northwest on Woodward Canyon Road.
We planted our first 11 acres of wine grapes in 2001.
In 2002 we added another 7.5 acres. Our grape varietals
include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Viognier.
The land is family owned and named to honor Sonja’s
mom, Susanne Estes, and her mom’s late husband Win
Chester Estes. Win was a well respected wheat farmer with
a true pioneering spirit, whose family homesteaded in
the Clyde area of Walla Walla County in the 1860’s.
The quality of the fruit from the vine directly influences
the wine. Therefore only the best grapes go into every
bottle of Lowden Hills wine.
